Documents of Distance
Christopher Bassi
25 - 26 May 2018
Documents of Distance is a body of work that continues the artist’s critical exploration of place, presence and the entangling of racial and cultural identity. In a practice that oscillates between representation and material concerns, history and heritage become the foundation of a personal cosmology that attempt to blur the limitations, and demonstrate the fluidity of the boundaries of cultural mixing. Bassi creates narratives to shed new light on malleable historical legacies while trying to understand those that make up his own biography.
